Go over today’s notes
Plan review sessions

Scheduling Study & Review Sessions
Schedule on regular basis . . .
(at least once a week)
Good habits bring good results!
Ask yourself these questions:
How many study/review sessions have you scheduled this week?
What subjects will you be reviewing?
What upcoming test do you have?
How much time do you plan to study for each of these tests?

SEVERAL NIGHTS BEFORE THE TEST
Know the methods of studying that work best for you.
Be aware of all dates of upcoming tests.
Be aware of your personal schedule and how that coincides with your test preparation.
Find out what the test will cover.
Make sure you’re organized.
Set the scene for studying.

Find out what the test will cover.
Did you review in class?
Did the teacher give you a study guide?
Were you tuned into the clues the teacher gave about the test?
Will it cover both textbook & class work?
How many chapters/sections will it be over?
Will it cover past material from tests/quizzes?
If you don’t know the answer to any of these questions, you need to ASK!!!
Organize you test-study materials
Assemble all notes, homework assignments, books, etc. that you need.
Make sure you have everything you need before you start studying.
Fill out the “Test-Study Planner”

Set the scene for studying
Remove all distractions.
Put up a “Do Not Disturb” sign.
Let you family know you’re studying.
Remember the “20 Minute Miracle.”
Have a positive attitude!

THE DAY OF THE TEST
Make sure you’ve had a good night’s rest.
Make sure you’ve eaten a good breakfast.
Spend 5-10 minutes reviewing
Be confident!

HOW TO STUDY
Step 1: Find out what you already know
Quiz yourself over your notes
Say answers out loud
Review past quizzes & tests
Look over homework
Go over vocab., special formulas, etc.
Make flashcards over anything you feel unsure of

HOW TO STUDY
Step 2: Divide and Conquer
Divide flashcards into 4 piles
Quiz yourself over cards in pile 1
If you’re right discard
If you’re wrong, put back on bottom of pile
Answer out loud
When pile 1 is finished, take a 2 minute break
Congratulate yourself
Move around
Stretch
Get back to work
Repeat for remaining 3 piles

Hints for Making Vocabulary Flashcards
Write down paragraph and page number
Read the paragraph — pay close attention to how it’s used.
Write the word and it’s definition on a flashcard.
Quiz yourself out loud.

Hints for Studying Spelling
Read and spell the word out loud.
Trace the word as you spell it out loud again.
Use the word in a sentence.
Say the word and spell it out loud 3 times.
Write the word without peeking.
Check your work, if it’s wrong, repeat the whole process.
Once you’ve finished your list successfully, have someone give you a practice test.
